  1. Fortunately, this woman had Saudi Arabian law on her side. It used to be (10-15 years ago) the religous police could beat anyone (male, female, Saudi, Westerner) with their large sticks (about 6 feet long, and the diameter of a man’s forearm) for any violation of religous law. Now, the religous police are only to “advise” a person of their violation, attempt to “reason” with them, and “report” women to the male that is over them. As you commented Morven, there is a great gulf between law and practice.
    Prayers for the safety of this woman and others who stand up for their rights.
